The most amazing thing about this ad is the fact that the Enfield No. 2 Mark I* revolver, a genuinely good gun, sold for the same price. This shows the effect of free-market forces: at that time No. 2's were literally being sold off by the UK government as scrap metal, and cost the jobbers more than the new-made RG-10's did. Wholesalers paid about a dollar and a half for a No. 2, all up, so that there was a very handsome profit margin on them.
The No. 2 is no beauty queen but it's a sound and serviceable .38 and at less than thirteen bucks it was a staggering bargain even in 1960.
